9 11 2001

Three numbers that we all will remember. As they comprise the date that a sleeping giant was awakened. I know, just what is needed another 911 post. But why not. We all know what we were doing when we heard the shocking news.

Me? I was working at Proctor and Gamble. I was collecting samples that were to be tested. I heard the news from a coworker that was listening to the radio. Then the news that a second plane did the same as the first one. Hit one of the towers of the World Trade Center.

We were shocked. We were angry. Terrorism had come to America in a way that no one expected or thought could happen. Hundreds of lives were wasted. We wanted the people responsible to pay for what they did. And we acted swiftly. A war was started.

But now it seems we want to go back to sleep. We forgot quickly that we are just as vulnerable to attack as any other country. But this was the second time in the same century that America had been attacked. How many more times are we going to have someone wake us up. For the first time in a long time we were all on the same side. We knew who the enemy was/is. And we realized that for the most part it was not the people that we pointed our fingers at. We now knew that it was not the ones that did not like because of their race, color religious background. Christian and non-christian alike came together.

We cannot allow ourselves to lulled to sleep again. We need to take the lessons we had learned 9 years ago and continue in them. We need to come together as one nation once again.
